【今回の講演会のタイトル】
「Japanese Cultural Art Forms」
～Noh Theater, Shakuhachi, and Traditional Arts～
This seminar will present information in English based
on the culture of Japanese traditional art forms.
It will provide an introduction to Noh theater as well as the shakuhachi and will also include discussion on other kinds of art.
The seminar will focus on what non-Japanese find most interesting about these arts and how to talk about them with these people.
【about Marcus】
Marcus Shinsui Grandon is an award-winning artist, teacher,
and author.
He has been instructing at Shizuoka University for the past 13 years, and has more than 20 years of experience learning Asian arts including black belts in Aikido, Judo, and Iyaido.
In 2001, he was granted a Menkyo Kaiden in Myoan-Ryu Shakuhachi from Myoan-ji in Kyoto.
He is the first non-Japanese to ever perform shakuhachi
in a Kanze Ryu Noh play, and does performances/lectures throughout Japan and the USA.
His music has been used world-wide in films, TV, and radio.
Mr. Grandon holds an M.A. in Asian Culture from California State University, and a post-graduate teaching license in Education.
He is listed in the book "Who's Who in the World" as both an artist and educator.
